Pulling up a chair…

A QUICK REFRESHER

A board full of possibilities.

Find words by joining neighboring dice, up, down, sideways, or diagonally. You can’t use a die twice in the same word.

Swipe or tap, then add your word. Lift your finger to check it first. Undo removes the last die; Clear starts fresh. You can also open “Prefer to type?” and use your keyboard.

Letters sharing a die stay together and each letter counts toward word length. All sets include Qu. The optional 5 × 5 double-letter cube has An, Er, He, In, Qu, and Th; it replaces a randomly chosen standard die each round. The 6 × 6 set always includes those pairs and has a blocked face that can’t be used.

Each size uses its own dice distribution. The 4 × 4 and classic 5 × 5 dice have Qu as their only two-letter face; the 5 × 5 double-letter cube adds the other pairs.

House rules

No penalty for a bogus word. Only dictionary words connected on the board count. Proper names and hyphenated words don’t count. Repeating your own word won’t earn extra points.

Our default: 5 × 5 with the double-letter cube, three-minute rounds, four-letter minimum, and two points per letter for words of nine letters or more.

The host can adjust the time and shortest word, and choose whether words found by multiple players get crossed out. Scores are revealed together when time runs out or everyone connected taps “I’m done”.

Official 4 × 4 and 5 × 5 rules use classic scoring. Two points per letter for nine or more comes from 6 × 6; we also use it as our 5 × 5 house rule. The host can choose either scoring rule for any size.

Words must meet the chosen minimum length to score. Everyone sees the same board; your finds stay private until the round ends.
